These guys' name is very interesting 'cause I found out a couple years ago "Pallas" is an ancient greek word that was the name of several minor deities and also an epithet for Athena. Makes it kind of an enigmatic word -- hard to imagine an exact translation, since it was fairly confused and convoluted even in the mythology itself, and basically even the ancient greeks didn't seem to agree on what it meant.
So the question of how it became the name of this cat in modern times is fairly interesting too since while the history of the word is well-known it doesn't have a real meaning.
